JOAN DURU

Joan Duru learned to surf at the age of 7. At the age of ten he entered his first competition. In 2006, at the age of 17, he had his first victory on the WQS circuit in Portugal. In September 2008, he was invited as a wild card to the Quiksilver Pro France in Hossegor. This was his first time competings in a World Surfing Championship event. In the first round of the competition, he managed to beat eight-time world champion Kelly Slater. After several years on the WQS circuit where he was only a few places away from qualification, he joined the worlds surfing elite for three seasons on the mythical WCT from 2017 to 2020. In 2021, he finally became ISA World Champion at the ISA World Championships in El Salvador after failing twice finishing 3rd and second in the same event.
